It's possible to experience a headache, vertigo, muscle aches, nausea, or diarrhoea. During the first four days of treatment for "river blindness" (onchocerciasis), you can encounter side effects from the parasites that are dying, such as joint discomfort, tender or swollen lymph nodes, eye swelling, redness, or pain, weakness, altered vision, itching, rash, and fever. Inform your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible if any of these side effects persist or get worse.
