Bhautik Mehta, a 9-year-old child, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor (Glioblastoma WHO Grade IV) in July 2020. He had surgery to remove the tumour, which was followed by radiotherapy, chemotherapy, a brain MRI scan every three rounds of chemotherapy, physiotherapy, and aquatic therapy.
Bhautik's blood parameters have not been stable since his last treatment, on January 15th, and he has had 6 blood transfusions so far. His bone marrow test results are poor, and physicians believe he may require a bone marrow transplant, which will cost around 30-35 lakhs. Doctors reviewed the next steps during the board meeting on April 13th. Doctors also want to start Immunotherapy sessions for his brain tumour on a monthly basis, and the cost of each Immunotherapy session will be 3 lakhs. Tata Doctors intends to provide him with Immunotherapy sessions for at least two years, at a cost of roughly 72 lakhs.
